Affordable Fixed Fee Family Law Services in Tucson, AZ

Compassionate Representation You Can Count On

Attorney Jane Jacobs

How Do Fixed Fee Family Law Services Work?

The attorney charges the client a flat fee to perform certain limited services in your case. You control what the attorney does and when. There are no unexpected or added fees. You know exactly what you are paying for at all times.

Does The Attorney Represent Me When I Hire Them for Fixed Fee Legal Services?

The attorney will file a notice of appearance telling the court and parties about what limited services will be performed.  The attorney will only represent the client for those services specifically outlined in the limited scope notice of appearance.

What Fixed Fee Services Are Available?

Any legal service you need can be done with a fixed fee. Some examples are:

  • Original Petition for Divorce
  • Original Petition for Paternity (“custody” of kids without marriage)
  • Motion for Temporary Orders (orders requested before final orders)
  • Response to a Divorce Petition
  • Response to a Paternity Petition
  • Emergency Motion for Temporary Orders (urgent request for temporary orders)
  • Orders of Protection
  • Modification of Parenting time, Legal decision-making, or child support
  • Child support matters
  • Spousal Support matters
  • Enforcement of Orders
  • Pre-nuptial and post-nuptial agreements

How Much Do Fixed Fee Legal Services Cost?

It depends on what service you need done. It can vary somewhat depending on how complicated the matter is, and whether a court hearing is required.

What If I Need Additional Legal Services?

With fixed fee services, you can pay as you go. If the attorney completes a service, you can then move on to the next step, and pay for that service, as needed.

How Are Fixed Fee Legal Services Different From A “Retainer” Or “Traditional” Fee Agreement?

A “retainer” is a sum of money paid to an attorney for full-service representation in a matter. The attorney performs whatever services are required to meet the client’s goals, and the attorney bills against the retainer as they go. If the retainer is exhausted, the client can elect to refresh the retainer, or dismiss the attorney. With the traditional retainer, the client receives periodic statements showing the client how the attorney has spent time on their case, and what has been charged for each task.

With a “fixed fee”, you pay only for the service that you need at that time. It is a flat fee, and it includes a description of everything included for the completion of that specific service or services up front. There are no additional charge for phone calls, filing fees, court costs, emails, etc. Once the agreed upon service is complete, the attorney is automatically relieved of providing any other service without a new agreement.
